For Ola Semb, entrepreneur from Drammen, Norway, life has always moved fast. For the past fifteen, maybe twenty years, he has lived in constant motion — surrounded by projects, people, and responsibility. He thrives on intensity, but deep down he knows he also needs contrast.
– I love the energy when things are hectic and intense. But another part of me longs for something completely different. I need a space where I can slow down, clear my head, and think straight.
For Ola, nature provides that balance. The wilderness is where his thoughts settle and new ideas take shape. He describes it as a necessity — not a luxury.
– If I didn’t have the opportunity to get out on trips and experience those contrasts, I don’t think I’d function well in daily life. I probably wouldn’t do my job very well either.
The dream of a car and a boat was never about the machines themselves. For Ola, they are tools — carefully chosen instruments that make adventure possible.
– The dream about the car and the boat is, in a way, an isolated dream — but that dream consists of many smaller dreams where the car and the boat are really just tools. It’s the experiences I’m after. If the tools work well and help create those great adventures, then that’s the goal.
Ola is meticulous about quality. Every detail, every material, must serve a purpose. Whether on land or at sea, everything has to work perfectly.
– I like having everything prepared, when the gear just works, exactly the way it should. Whether it’s a trip with the car or the boat, I want every detail to be just right — everything has to work perfectly.
When Ola first contacted Dovra, he shared his idea of combining a Dovra RIG X-610 with an Ockelbo B21 boat — a setup made to explore the Arctic Coast. The Dovra team reached out to Ockelbo Boats, and together they met with Ola to develop a unified concept — a complete land-and-sea solution built for real adventure. Later, Ola invited the Dovra team to join him in Northern Norway — to see both machines in their natural element. The result was a journey filled with contrasts: wind and silence, exhaustion and laughter, adrenaline and reflection.
– When you go on a long trip — when you’re wet, cold, and tired — you start to get fed up. But I think that’s an important part of the experience: to feel worn out and face that side of it too.
For Ola, those moments are essential. They make everything else meaningful — the calm after the storm, the satisfaction of returning home.
– And then, when the trip is over, I absolutely love coming home — to my house and my wife. That’s when life feels at its best. I think that if you don’t experience those challenges, you lose your sense of reference.
